One thing I really enjoyed about preparing for my recent show was laying out a bunch of my work all together and taking stock. I don’t like everything equally well and I do view it with a critical eye, but I also allowed myself the pleasure of enjoying how much I have accomplished and how far my printmaking has come in the last three years.
So today I did the same process with all the blocks I have carved but haven’t yet printed. A block party!
I had all kinds of warm glow. So much fun to see these all laid out and to imagine how the finished prints will look. The glow was quickly followed, though, by a small rush of adrenaline as I thought, “wow, I have a lot of work to do in the print studio!”
